A Collection

Well two entries in just over a week isn't awful, right? The only problem is trying to remember all
of the entertaining eileen-ism's of late.

She's been on a precious - yet, let's admit- a tad bit annoying - kick of late.  Let me see if I can play it out for you:
e: mooooooooooommmmy!
me: yes honey?
e: i looooooooooove you.

sweet right? now, repeat that scenario roughly 15x in a 3 minute span. I won't insult any of you and attempt the math, but lets just say it's a lot. And Sarah told me it's the same at their house. (ohhhh that irks Eileen when she realizes I know what she does at Daddy's and he knows what she does here!).  I digress.

It has now morphed into all sorts of phrases:
mommmyyy! you're beautiful.
... you're beautiful even when you are in your running clothes...
...you're beautiful even when you shake your booty....
...you're the most precious mommy...

At this point I've chalked it up to partial sweet little adorable phase, and partial this is the child who never stops talking so she just keeps making up new things to say.

So over the long weekend, we went to visit Kath & Ron and the girls.  These are Bill's nieces, Grace is 7 and Syd is 5. The three of them have a blast together. Syd taught Eileen to drive the ranger (see above photo), which was quite the event.  She later informed Bill & I that she could now drive AND she could give us directions on how to get to school and home. "You turn here, and then you turn again, and THEN you go up a BIG hill" ... relayed to us in utter seriousness and hand motions to go along with the turns and hills.

Sunday night, after a ridiculously fun pool party, we were back at Kath and Ron's house.  Several friends came back with us, including some of Grace's school buddies.  Syd passed OUT the minute we got back, so Eileen got to have all the 'big girls' to herself.  She was in her glory. She sat outside and ate dinner and just chatted away. And as you can see was more than comfortable in her own skin ....  she told Bill & I the next day that they'd sat outside and had a burp party.  As one of my dear High School friends pointed out on my fb page - this sounded exactly like one of our daily lunches at my all girl high school growing up (thank you KKS.. you know who you are!).  I wanted to burst out laughing bc all I could think was 'like mother like daughter'.. but opted to NOT tell my almost five year old that Mommy and her friends could out belch any frat boy in sight when we got to college....

We got back to Ktown, and in the course of a few hours.. she told me to drive slow (heading home from target) bc when I went fast, the wind blew off her lipstick.  Oh my. When we were IN Target, she asked if she could ride the back of the cart (which I often refer to as the buggy).  So I said OK. and she said "all aboard the Buggy Bus!" - not quietly-  only I thought she said "all aboard the boogie bus!!" which had me in fits of laughter, and when I told her what I thought she'd said.. then she was in fits of laughter. And her laugh is infectious and just makes me laugh even more. I imagine the people around us wondered if we'd been sniffing glue.  This all occurred moments after I'd sent her running as fast as she can down all the aisles ... with the sole intention of wearing her out.  Don't be hatin' on my Mommy Skills.

By last night, after a non-stop fun-filled weekend, she was clearly exhausted. I'd done her nails, and left her to sit still while they dried and I went to wash dishes. Roughly ten minutes later I came back to the den to find her passed-OUT. I carried her up to bed - and she did.not.wake.up.  She is almost five years old - and never once has that happened. She ALWAYS wakes up when I move her. Tonight when we told her she'd fallen asleep in her chair, she didn't believe us. "I did NOT!" she said.  Then we showed her this picture, and she was speechless (also a ridiculously rare occasion...) .
So this is her first week of Summer Camp.. no doubt I'll have some stories of interest to share.  Stay tuned. In the meantime.. here is a video if her flying high into the air.. and my annoying voice on top of the video (must remember to not speak when shooting video....)

Happy Tuesday Friends.

after a long hiatus...

I'm back. Well.. I am going to attempt to be... there was a time I managed to blog several times a week. And that was when Eileen was so very small.. I'm not sure how I found the time. And then there were a few years where I fell off the blog radar... most likely a combination of training for marathons, chasing a toddler, and some generally challenging periods.

Now, in what is somehow almost the middle of 2011, here I am. Eileen is almost five. And she is hilarious. I imagine there are countless parents who think their almost five year olds are the most hilarious kids ever.  But.. seeing as how I barely remember what I did three hours ago, I surely won't remember all the funny things she says and does years from now.. so I will (attempt) to keep it documented.  I imagine she'll be thrilled with this permanent history of herself in about ten years... heeheehee.

Josh and Sarah were married over the weekend, and Eileen was the Flower Girl. So of course
hilarity ensued.  While she was shy about walking down the aisle, she had no qualms about blurting out "Sarah! Can I throw the flowers now?" smack in the middle of the ceremony. And of course Sarah said yes, and POOF... an explosion of petals from the front row. Yesterday, while in Chattanooga with Daddy and Sarah, Eileen informed them they weren't really married. This, of course, is because Daddy did not carry Sarah away and then ride off in an Enchanted Carriage.

Mercy!

Summer Camp starts next week.. we're waiting with baited breath for the Adventures to begin.

Happy to be back.. and hopefully with some pattern of regularity.

Happy Monday Folks.
