We Three

We Three

yes, I am still alive...

Clearly I need more time to blog.  I love to do it,but some nights I am too tired and/or too sick of having spent my day on the computer.  (sidebar: I just started reading my 8th book since Memorial Day.... that makes me a happy girl).

So, in recent weeks,... we have had the July 4th holiday (blows my mind we already had that, and are indeed at the end of July). Bill/Eileen/Me have gone to visit Nana & Grampie in NC. Harry Potter #7 Part 2 - the final movie - was released. Eileen went to Swim Camp.  Josh had a birthday.  Sissy has finished her second semester of her MBA program (all A's no less.. with only nine Saturdays of class left...).  David starts nursing school in about 3 weeks.  Gracie has lost eight lbs. And,  in less than 24hours, Josh and Sarah will know if Eileen is getting a baby brother or baby sister!

For the record, she's hoping for a boy..it seems she is convinced a baby sister will 'steal all of her toys.'  Oh my.

Clearly, we are some seriously busy people. Somewhere in there we manage to work and mow the lawns and do chores and even have fun.

In Eileen updates.. in recent weeks.. she has taken on a BRITISH accent. Not a clue where that one comes from. At night, when putting her to bed, she often wants to play with mommy's hair (and I will milk that for as loooong as I can...).  Last week, she started saying "oh dahling of mine, yowah haiih is ghargeous..." I mean WHAT? I could not make that up if I tried.

One night, out of nowhere...
E: Mommy?
me: yes?
E: what can you tell me about the Titanic?

Yep. Just like that. I have to assume it had been discussed at school.  I have no idea.  (for the record, I told her it was a big boat that got a hole in it and sank almost 100 years ago... which also happened to be opening day at Fenway Park...).  Beyond that I think I was so stunned I could craft no other answer.

One evening, while attempting to bed me to let us eat dinner in the den, while watching a movie (which is a once a week treat - otherwise we are at the table eating and practicing our manners!).  Coming down the stairs... mommy... can we puhlease eat in the den??  (this part to be read in a sing-songy voice...) I'll let you watch Despicable Me....."  which she KNOWS is one of my favorite animated movies.  Not even five and she's bargaining.

We DO need to work on her taste in cars.. or maybe she has an early age obsession with trucks.  She looves Bill's truck, and in fact has lovingly named it Trucky.  She actually gets quite mad at us when we drive the car instead of Trucky.  After a nine hour drive to Nana and Grampie's house, we pull up.. where we see the beautiful 1962 (I think) Red Porsche that Grampie lovingly restored, and his trusty beat-up little 1980 something Nissan 4x4 truck.  Eileen eyes them both, and promptly announces she wants to ride in Grampie's truck! I think we all just stared at her as the alien she clearly is.  (note: eileen did not ride in the truck, tho Bill and I did beg joyrides in the Porsche!)

We recently introduced Eileen to some Wallace & Gromit movies, as well as to the (original) Parent Trap.. both of which she loves.  Wallace & Gromit - I love that she appreciates British humor at such a oung age.  Parent Trap.. who doesn't love that movie??  She DID ask if Susan and Sharon are real twins.  Seeing as how I could not FATHOM how to explain to an almost five-year-old that Hayley Mills in fact played both girls and the film was splice together... well, I lied. Yes people. I am mother of the year, and I lied to my child.  Deal with it.

I have no doubt there are more stories and events I have failed to share... but at this rate, the fact I remembered how to get to my blog site is nothing short of miraculous.

On that note.. I'm going to read a bit more of my recently started ninth book..

Four more hours? Six?

How many more hours in a day would make our lives less insane? Sheesh.
Just popping in for a moment to say, dear readers, I have not forgotten you. All is not lost. (drama? what drama?!)

Indeed, I have a running list at home of Eileen-isms. We were away last week, and this week has been nothing short of insane back at the office.

My intent is to schedule an appointment with myself and the laptop this weekend and get a blog posted....

Stay tuned....
