#golulu

Usually I use this blog to write about the incredibly random things that happen to me. And of course earlier this year as a tribute to my mom.

So NOW I'm using it to see just how far we may able to get with Social Media, going viral, and so on. I've never done anything like this, but why not, right?

Many of you know about and/or followed my updates on our little buddy Hugo.  I have known Hugo's daddy for longer than either of us wants to admit, and I've known his mommy for almost a decade. Two of my most favorite people on the planet.

Hugo was diagnosed right after his first birthday (June 2014) with a very rare form of cancer. In fact, he was given only a 4% chance of survival.  Hugo quickly had an incredibly large fan club, and of course he had no idea the inspiration and hero he became for his small army. There are bracelets and tee shirts and magnets, there were concerts and funraisers. There was his very own hashtag and multiple FaceBook Groups.

And roughly one month ago, Hugo was declared cancer free.   You read that right. Less than one year later, after some incredibly intense treatments, prayers and positive thoughts at a level none of us can imagine, and - I'm convinced - after My Mom had some words with The Man Above - Hugo was cancer free.  From 4% chance at living to alive and well.

So where am I going with all this? And why is this post called #golulu ?

See, Lulu is Hugo's big sister. She had turned five just weeks before Hugo was diagnosed. Take a minute to think about that. Five. Five years old is a pretty big deal.  Five is half a decade. Five is Kindergarten. Five is no longer a toddler, very much a kid. And yet, five is still so little. So young and innocent.  At five years old, everything Lulu had ever known changed.  Of course her parents and family and Hugo's army didn't forget about her. Eventually she got her own hashtag, and there were gifts and fun stuff for her along the way. Lulu started Kindergarten and remained the sweet precious girl she always has been.

SO. Now it's Lulu's turn for a bit of Lulu time. Another cool thing about Lulu? She and her mommy have the same birthday. For their birthday, Mommy is taking them for a girls weekend in NYC. They'll go to a play, to museums, to a certain store that sells dolls and has the initials A.G.   Lulu knows NONE of this. This is her big surprise. Her treat after a pretty challenging year.

In fact, the bulk of what Lulu knows about NYC is from Taylor Swift's song "Welcome to New York."  It goes without saying that Lu adores Ms. Swift (ok, admittedly, so do I, and I'm pretty sure I'm well above the age for her target audience...).

So I'm on a mission. For Lu to get to meet Taylor Swift when she's in NYC .. in early May. I have no idea if Taylor Swift will BE in NYC in early May. Or if Taylor Swift will ever see this.

But how about you guys all pitch in and let's see if we can make it happen!??! Come on. You know you want to.  How cool would it be to know you helped make this little lady's year?!  So here's what I ask.  If you see this, share it on your FB or Twitter or Tumblr or Instagram  or anyplace else  - share the blog.. the link.. the #golulu and #taylorswift or @taylorswift.  It only takes a second. And it's free. And there will be one very happy little girl out there if we can make it work.

So come on - get posting!!!
